History of Travel in New Mexico

A Mobile Museum. This converted RV tours New Mexico carrying exhibitions and educational material from the collections of the state museums and monuments. The "traveling museum" brings the New Mexico experience to you. A New Mexico "Culture on the Go".

The History of Travel in New Mexico is a public service collaboration among the New Mexico Department of Transportation, and two divisions of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs which includes the New Mexico History Museum and Museum Resources Division.

The Van of Enchantment has been traveling New Mexico roads for over a decade exploring the history of travel that has evolved from prehistoric road travel by past civilizations to horses, carts, trains and to today's interstate transportation system.

Go Ahead and Explore

The Van of Enchantment is a public service that explores the major exhibit series of Trails and Tales, Riding The Rails and Road Trips. There is never an admission fee. Ideally, teachers should make reservations at least six months in advance. For schedules and details, contact the Van of Enchantment directly for curriculum packets and detailed information.
